GREER ORIGINAL WORKS OF ART

THE OLD WORLD OIL PAINTING PROCESS

As long as the painted portrait has been a part of recorded human history, it has been used to celebrate and honor important individuals.  The subject's representation is always left to the artists' interpretation and doesn't always depict the true likeness of the person.  As time has evolved, so have the tools available to artists.  We utilize the most cutting edge and advanced techniques available today to create extraordinary works of art to celebrate and honor the loved ones of our clients.  We incorporate unique, proprietary oils and mediums to create stunning pieces of art. Our mulit-stage method brings together the fundamentals of the Old Masters and new world technologies to create an archival photorealistic piece of art that maintains the true likeness of the subject using traditional oils and canvas.

STUDIO PORTRAIT STUDY

As masters of photography and design, the foundation of your portrait starts here with creative lighting, posing and composition.  These creations are just the first step in the process and will be used to bring a realistic interpretation to  your painting.

IMAGE CREATION

After selecting all the perfect elements from your portrait study, the graphic segment of your Masterpiece Oil Painting begins.  Every brush stroke, color and texture is created and masterfully applied, creating a one of a kind art piece.  This process allows the artist full creative expression while still maintaining the likeness of the subject.

CANVAS APPLICATION

Decades of printing craftsmanship, which is second to none, go into the process of transferring the painted portrait onto artist's canvas. Only the highest quality inks and canvas are used and have over a 100 year archival rating.

 ARTIST'S OILS AND PROTECTIVE FINISHES

Greer Old World Paintings with artist's oils are original works of art, each uniquely hand painted by Leeann Greer.  She personally creates each brush stroke, color and texture used to complete each painting. Once the canvas application is complete, a protective lacquer varnish coating is applied to seal in the ink transfer.  Then the canvas is completely covered with an artist's medium and must completely dry before the next step begins.

Next, numerous artist's oils are creatively blended together then applied to the art piece. This is what brings the dynamic depth and dimension to the painting as it comes to life. During this process, the true creativity of the artist blossoms as it pulls out the unique colors and intricate details of each piece.

Once complete, the many layers of artist's oils must dry before the last step. The drying time depends upon how thick the paint is applied and can take several months to completely dry. Once dry, the entire piece is sealed with another UV protective lacquer layer to give ultimate protection and longevity.

The entire Old World Painting with Artist's Oil  process takes 6-8 months for completion.

HAND SIGNED
BY THE ARTIST

Each piece is individually signed by Leeann Greer with her maiden family name.  Serendipitously, the Greer family name motto in Latin is "memor esto" which means, remember this, to be mindful, and remember those who came before you.  The Greer signature embodies the very nature of what we create for you, to remember and honor those which matter most to you. Your Legacy Matters.

CUSTOM CURATED FRAMES

We have spent many years custom curating our frames with a craftsman in California. The design, style and finish are unique to our studio.  Our frames are meticulously finished by hand from master artisans with decades of experience. They are made from scratch with real wood.  We choose only the best hand selected gold or silver leafing and each frame is individually hand antiqued with our proprietary patina finish to give it the distinctly rich look and feel of a museum masterpiece.  We do not use the less expensive chop and join unfinished corners that are commonly found. Rather, each of our individually built frames have closed corners with finished seams.

HAND LETTERED
NAMEPLATE

The frame can be completed with a nameplate which is a distinguished finishing touch and is a work of art by itself. These nameplates are of the highest quality that you can purchase. The artist has been producing these museum quality plaques since 1987 for private collectors, important art galleries, and museums throughout the United States. Each plaque is cut from hard wood that has been personally selected by the artist. It is then arduously prepared for gilding in the same manner used for the most elite custom gilded frames using gold leaf application. 22 karat gold is then applied to each title plate then hand lettered to your specifications.
